Cornea services
Consultant – Dr. Kalpana Suresh
The cornea clinic attends to the management of corneal disorders like corneal infections, dystrophies and degenerations. Surgical procedures including Penetrating keratoplasty, Lamellar keratoplasty including Deep Anterior lamellar Keratoplasty are also done. Refractive Corneal surgery is done at referral centres by the Consultant after evaluating the patient at JosEye.
Cataract
Consultants – Dr. Lily Daniel, Dr. M. J. Sudarshan
Dr. Lily and Dr. Sudarshan are skillful cataract surgeons and are experts at phaco emulsification with foldable intra ocular lens implantation (IOLs). The IOLs that are implanted at JosEye are unifocal, multifocal and toric. Both Indian and Imported lenses, depending on the patients affordability and preferences, are implanted. Complicated cataract surgeries are effortlessly managed. Secondary IOLs including Iris Claw lens and Scleral fixated lenses are also done at JosEye.
Glaucoma
Consultant – Dr. M. J. Sudarshan
Glaucoma , the silent thief of vision, can be medically managed if detected early. All patients above 40 years of age and those with family history of Glaucoma are routinely screened for Glaucoma at JosEye. Those patients who do not respond to medical therapy are advised Glaucoma surgery. Combined surgery is advised for those requiring surgical management of both Glaucoma and Cataract.
Medical Retina
Consultant – Dr. Mary Santhosh
Screening of retinal disorders are undertaken at JosEye. These include Diabetic retinopathy, Hypertensive retinopathy, age related macular degeneration and macular dystrophies.
Intravitreal injections for the treatment of macular edema and laser photocoagulation for Diabetic Retinopathy are also done at JosEye.
Orbit and Oculoplastics

Dr. Lily Daniel, apart from cataract surgery, also deals with Ophthalmic Plastic surgery. Her passion includes management of facial plasy. Dr.Priti Udhay deals with Ophthalmic plastic surgery and management of Orbital trauma and orbital diseases including infections, inflammations and tumours .
Ophthalmic plastic Surgery or Oculoplasty includes surgical correction of Ectropion (outward turning of eyelid), Entropion (inward turning of eyelid) and Ptosis (drooping of eyelid).
Baggy eyelids and droopy eyebrows can give rise to a tired appearance. When severe, these may even lead to impaired vision. Baggy eyelids and droopy eyebrows can be corrected by what is known as Aesthetic eyelid surgery.
Enucleation or Evisceration with orbital implants is performed when indicated. Patients who have undergone orbital implants are fitted with either prefabricated prosthesis or custom made prosthesis with excellent results.
Vision Therapy
JosEye offers vison therapy for children with Lazy eye and visual rehabilitation for those who have lost vision in adulthood. For those who are interested, counselling in coping with visual loss is offered. Vision Therapy is offered by a trained Optometrist and counselling in visual loss is carried out by Ms.Sunita Menon, who has specialized in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at the Swinburne University, Australia. The counselling sessions are given at Ms.Sunita’s private clinic at Nungambakkam.
